BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Dora Sales
Dr. Dora Sales (email@example.com) is Lecturer in the Department of Translation and Communication at the University Jaume I of Castellón (Spain). Her research interests and publications are in translation studies, information literacy and intercultural communication and mediation. She graduated in English Philology and holds a PhD in Translation Studies, with a dissertation on transcultural literatures (Puentes sobre el mundo: Cultura, traducción y forma literaria en las narrativas de transculturación de José María Arguedas y Vikram Chandra. New York/Bern/Frankfurt: Peter Lang, published in 2004). She is a practising literary translator specialised in Indian contemporary fiction.
BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Carmen Valero-Garcés
Dr. Carmen Valero-Garcés (firstname.lastname@example.org) is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Alcalá, Madrid (Spain), and the Director of the Postgraduate and Undergraduate Programmes on Public Service Interpreting and Translation (www.uah.es/otrosweb/traduccion). She is also the coordinator of The International Conference on Translation and Interpreting held at Alcala since 1995 and the editor of the proceedings. The 6th conference will take place in April 2005. She holds a PHD on English Studies and a Masters Degree on Migration and Intercultural Communication. She is the editor, among others, of Interculturality, Translation, Humor, and Migration, (2003), Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos. Contextualización, Actualidad y Futuro (2003); Discursos (Dis)concordantes: Modos y Formas de Comunicación y Convivencia (2003) as well as the author of books and articles dealing with interpreting and translating in public services.
