Carol O’Sullivan is a Senior Lecturer in Translation at the University of Portsmouth. Her research interests include audiovisual translation, translation history and literary translation. She is the author of articles on the translation of classical literature, censorship in translation, Victorian translation publishing and subtitling. She is a co-editor with Luc van Doorslaer, Denise Merkle and Michaela Wolf of The Power of the Pen: Translation & Censorship in Nineteenth-Century Europe (LIT Verlag, 2010). Her monograph Translating Popular Film was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2011. She is Associate Editor of the journal Translation Studies.
