CALL FOR CALLS: A SPECIAL ISSUE (Issue 51, January 2029)

We invite proposals for a special guest-edited issue of JoSTrans to be published in January 2029.

JoSTrans (The Journal of Specialised Translation) is a leading, peer-reviewed, diamond open-access journal dedicated to advancing research in non-literary translation and interpreting. Published bi-annually since 2004, it features articles, reviews, and video interviews with translation scholars and industry professionals. The journal is indexed in major humanities and social sciences databases, including Scopus and Web of Science (JCR). JoSTrans publishes two issues per year: a general, non-thematic issue and a guest-edited special issue.

We invite proposals for a call which deals with any novel and/or underresearched area or aspect of specialised translation which have not been covered recently in the journal (for previous special issues see http://jostrans.org/archive.php), e.g.:

  • AI and translation/interpreting (with human factors);
  • financial/business translation and interpreting;
  • medical translation and interpreting;
  • localisation;
  • translation and politics / politics of translation; translation and Global North & Global South;
  • interpreting and specialised domains;
  • translation and diversity;
  • translation and creativity;
  • public understanding of translation;
  • history of translation;
  • methodologies of researching specialised translation/interpreting.

The proposal should include (please use the following format):

  • Name of the topic
  • Names and academic affiliations of editors
  • Presentation of the topic
  • Editors’ editing expertise
  • If you propose a closed call, please provide names of contributors, titles and abstracts.
